Attended the Salem Historical Society meeting last night to see John Dunlap perform his portrayal of Charles Burchfield. It was a good time. Dick Wootten was there and it’s always good to see him.
My Birthday 2010
Well, it’s my birthday and they got me a cake at the office. Here’s a photo of the delicious banana cake from Salem Giant Eagle. Thanks, guys!
Oh, and Tammy got me some lottery tickets which I have yet to scratch.
Ice Cream in the Park
Stopped at McDonalds to get a few ice cream cones. We asked to have one cone put in a cup because Melissia doesn’t like cones. Well, McDonalds took that very literally as you can see. Haha.
Pancake Breakfast!
We went to an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast fund raiser for the local girl’s soccer team. I posted a gallery for the pancakes on SalemOhio.com. I must say… good food.
Visited New UPS Store in Alliance
Melissia and I drove up to the new UPS store in Alliance, Ohio yesterday. The store is having a grand re-opening after new owners Jeff and Robin Stewart bought it and fixed it all up. They now own both the Salem and Alliance UPS stores. We took some photos for a news story on salemohio.com.
You can visit the Salem UPS store website to see all the things that the stores offer for services. We use them all the time.
Salem Ohio Homepage Adds Advertising
Salem’s official homepage, SalemOhio.com, now has advertising opportunities for local businesses. Ads have been added down the right side on the home page of the website as well as the previously added ads on interior pages such as news and profile pages.
This project is non-profit but hopefully the ad revenue will help to pay for the server costs. SalemOhio.com is a great website and we try to expand it a little more as time goes by. It has to be closing in on 15 years old now! That’s like a billion in website years.
Attended the Above 209 Show at The ROC
Melissia and I went to see local band Above 209 [Above 209 on MySpace] performing at The ROC here in Salem. Melissia was there to shoot photos of the band for marketing and whatnot. We only stayed for the warm up set but I can tell you that these young guys are a good band.
I also put up a gallery of the Above 209 show on SalemOhio.com. The photos turned out really good. You should follow the link to view the gallery. Band manager Jack Peppel set up the sound and the lighting.
Gallery Page Added to Salem Chamber Website
Salem Area Websites has added a gallery section on the Salem Chamber website. This was done by request of Executive Director Audrey Null so that members and non members alike might see the photos from Chamber events and get a better understanding of what goes on there.
All past galleries that have been posted by Chamber are listed as links below the current gallery and will load upon clicking.
This is actually the same gallery code that I wrote for the SalemOhio.com gallery section.
Quaker Paper Notecards are Selling!
We recently set up a greeting card rack at our local Salem UPS store and filled it with our handmade paper notecards. I am pleased to announce that we’ve already sold a few of them!
The hope is that people buy our greeting/note cards and send them to their friends who then want some and on and on. Plus get as many people as possible to visit the Quaker Paper website. Like you… go!
Channel 9 Station ID with Voiceover
We dropped off a new station ID at Salem City Hall for Channel 9 yesterday. [channel 9 website] This is the first with a voice-over. Now that we’ve got the technique down we should have a few different ones ready soon.
